SMILE more often!

Updated: Sep 12, 2020

We often forget to smile once in a while, simply because we are too busy worrying about our futures. Life has a way of making you feel very small, and if you are not careful, you might end up feeling lost in your very own skin. It is okay to feel a bit blue once in a while, but you should reach a point where you can get back up on track no matter the circumstances. I hope after reading this blog you feel the urge to smile more often!

I chose to write this blog because I have met way too many people who are too hard on themselves, people who indulge in self-blame. This blog is for people who forget to love themselves, individuals who spend most of their time caring for others. Always remember to smile! You should smile more often for the following reasons:

Smiling makes you feel good about yourself. When you smile more often, you tend to forget why you were upset in the first place, even if it was just for a short moment. The ability to smile when things are not going well in your life is a very special trait, it represents strength. Sometimes no one is available to let you know that things will be okay, that you will get through whatever it is that you might be going through - a smile can act as a substitute for a hug when you really need one. When you are feeling unhappy, enraged and agitated, have a look at yourself in the mirror, the strong emotions will subside, and will slowly be replaced by the urge to smile or laugh, because you think you look ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with feeling sad, but it should not last forever. "A smile is happiness you'll find right under your nose." - Tom Wilson.

Smiling reminds you of how far you have come. We hardly appreciate all that we have achieved in life unless others congratulate us. We only believe that we are great when other people mention it. It is very important to keep reminding yourself that you are extraordinary. Whenever you are in doubt, close your eyes and remember all that you have been through, everything that broke you, remember how you fought to be where you are today, remember how you succeeded even though you had no one by your side - that is why we smile! When you smile there is no problem bigger than your willpower, there is no obstacle too big for you, because smiling generates hope, and hope makes us invincible. "If you smile when you are alone, then you really mean it." - Andy Rooney.

Smiling might bring joy to others. This blog might be irrelevant to you because you might have mastered the art of smiling, for others it takes time. I have already stated a few reasons why smiling is essential in life, but sometimes a smile can brighten up another person's day. A smile is a very powerful tool, it is as contagious as laughter. When you smile at others it lightens up their mood, and the smile from a complete stranger makes it even better. People go through a lot on a daily basis, some are flooded with work, others are feeling anxious and disoriented, extend your smile. "A warm smile is the universal language of kindness." - William Arthur Ward.

Remember to smile more often, it does not cost a thing. "Smile! It increases your face value." - Robert Harling.

A well written piece, it couldn't have come at a better time. As the world is going through a lot right now, a smile is something that we need to help us get through each day of these lockdowns. Thank you, please share more.
